About Jay Simpson

Jay Simpson met Zareen Taj in 2007 at Towson University while he was pursuing his undergraduate degrees in anthropology and filmmaking. Jay assisted Zareen by working as an editor for the production of the Oppression of Hazara in Afghanistan. Later, they collaborated to produce Journey to Empowerment: Women After the Taliban. He is now working with Zareen to produce their new short film.

Jay is a National Geographic Explorer and Wild Gift 2022 Fellow. Trained in anthropology and an experienced multimedia producer, Jay’s work is frequently interdisciplinary and focuses on pressing environmental and human rights issues.
